EAGLEBANK BOWL ANNOUNCES CHARITABLEPARTNERSHIP WITH WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT

Washington, D.C. – The EagleBank Bowl today announced a charitable partnership agreement with the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), an organization whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors.

The partnership between the Bowl and the WWP will serve the dual purpose of raising awareness of WWP and the needs of severely injured servicemen and women while helping to raise funds to support its programs. The EagleBank Bowl and WWP will jointly organize special events in the Washington, D.C. area throughout the year and WWP representatives will participate in a variety of Bowl Week activities such as the pre-game coin toss and Teams Luncheon.

 “A core objective of the EagleBank Bowl is to honor the U.S. military so we are pleased to align with the Wounded Warrior Project on this shared mission,” said Steve Beck, Executive Director of the EagleBank Bowl. “There is no greater privilege than to provide support for the servicemen and women who put their lives on the line everyday to protect our freedoms.”

Beginning at the bedside of the severely wounded, WWP provides programs and services intended to ease the burdens of the wounded and their families, aid in the recovery process and smooth the transition back to civilian life. The various programs and services include benefits and career counseling, adaptive sports opportunities, advocacy initiatives and post traumatic stress seminars to aid in the transition from a hospital bed to an independent and productive life. Many injuries suffered during combat are traumatic brain injuries (TBI), amputations and severe burns that will retire these brave warriors from military service.

“We are so excited to embark on this relationship with the EagleBank Bowl,” said Steven Nardizzi, Wounded Warrior Project Executive Director. “This assistance and public awareness will go a long way in helping our nation’s wounded warriors as they recover and transition to a civilian lifestyle.”

In its inaugural year, the EagleBank Bowl donated nearly $280,000 to a variety of charities in cash and in-kind donations.

This year’s EagleBank Bowl is set for Tuesday, December 29 at 4:30 p.m. at RFK Stadium. The game will match Army against a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). If Army is not bowl-eligible, a team from Conference USA will be selected as the ACC opponent.
