WCSA Welcomes Three-day Event to Nation’s Capital;
Merchandise Offered at Discounts of up to 90 Percent

Washington, D.C. – The Washington Convention and Sports Authority announced today that the National Geographic Warehouse Sale will return to the DC Armory next month. Truckloads of books, maps, globes, toys, clothing, luggage and more will be available during the annual sale set for 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Friday, November 20, to Sunday, November 22. Admission is free.

“This is the perfect opportunity to get a jump on holiday shopping especially for bargain shoppers,” said Erik Moses, managing director of the WCSA Sports, Entertainment and Special Events Division. “Last year, the showroom was virtually emptied of merchandise and this year, a wide variety of unique items will again be available for sale.”

Fourteen tractor trailers will be loaded with almost everything that National Geographic has offered for sale in the past five years. Many of the items seen in National Geographic gift catalogs as well as 300 book titles will be available. Prices will be discounted up to 90 percent.

New to the sale this year will be a display of rolled and framed prints of some of National Geographic’s most iconic photographs, which are also available at www.printsNGS.com. Books are discounted from 20 to 90 percent off list price.

 “This year’s sale is one of the largest ever. We have more than 600 different products — that's 200,000 of the best-quality books, maps, DVDs, toys, travel accessories and gifts from around the world,” said Bill O'Donnell, National Geographic director of sales, publishing. “Our warehouse sale attracts both devoted fans of National Geographic and serious bargain hunters. There is something for everybody on your list, be they professional or amateur traveler, adventurer, scientist, gardener, history buff, photographer, animal lover, student or teacher.”

The DC Armory is easily accessible by the Metro on the Blue and Orange lines (Stadium-Armory station) and numerous bus lines. Secured parking is also available.
