EAGLEBANK BOWL NAMES WOUNDED EODWARRIOR FOUNDATION AS CHARITY
WASHINGTON, DC — The DC Bowl Committee, Inc. has selected the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation, based in Fredericksburg, Virginia, to be one of several charities to receive benefits from the inaugural EagleBank Bowl, which takes place Saturday, December 20th, at RFK Stadium. The announcement was made by Marie Rudolph, Founder of the EagleBank Bowl.
“Our mission is to honor all the men and women who have served in the U.S. Military," said Rudolph. "Our selection of the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation exemplifies the depth of our commitment.”
The non-profit organization is designed to provide financial relief to wounded EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) soldiers and their families. As part of this partnership the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation will participate in the coin toss of the District of Columbia’s first ever post-season bowl game of 2008.
“We are honored to have been chosen as one of the charities to receive a donation from the EagleBank Bowl Game,” said Sherri Beck, President of the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation. “It is very exciting to be a part of the inaugural event and we look forward to a great day!”
There are over 4,000 courageous men and women serving as EOD technicians, otherwise known as bomb technicians, within the Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force. These technicians, primarily volunteer candidates, are responsible for disarming, rendering safe, and disposing of a variety of unexploded military ordnance and terrorist devices.
“One of the core reasons for creating the EagleBank Bowl was to create a way to assist local charities,” said Sean Metcalf, Founder of the EagleBank Bowl. “The work the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation does combined with the regional demographics of the Washington, D.C. area made this a natural partnership.”
“The EOD community will benefit from this generous offer as the funds received will help us continue our mission of keeping our families together by issuing grants to our wounded EOD warriors and their families,” continued Beck. “It is a privilege to provide support to our brave men and women who put their life on the line everyday to make our nation a safer place.”
Prior to game day, the Wounded EOD Warrior Foundation will be honored at the Official EagleBank Bowl Teams Luncheon, on Friday, December 19th, where families will have the chance to sit with the players of their favorite Bowl Team.

EAGLEBANK BOWL
The DC Bowl Committee, Inc. was formed as a community and charitable organization to host the first-ever NCAA-sanctioned, post-season bowl game in Washington, DC. On September 10th, 2008 the dream became a reality when the EagleBank Bowl officially became a part of the D.C. sports and entertainment landscape. While the DC Bowl Committee brought the game to the region there are two other entities that are valued contributors in making this game a marquee event. The DC Sports and Entertainment Commission has been a valued partner from the very beginning. When EagleBank signed on as a title sponsor it gave the game instant credibility particularly in the business community. The game kicks off the 2008 bowl season on Saturday, December 20th, at RFK Stadium live on ESPN. The goals for bringing the game to Washington include boosting the regional economy, putting the nation’s capital on the map as a college football destination and to raise money for several local charities.
