DC ROLLERGIRLS RETURN TO THE DC ARMORY JANUARY 24

WASHINGTON, DC — Now that the inaugural festivities have officially ended and the last piece of confetti has been swept away, the DC Rollergirls will keep the excitement going at the DC Armory. After hosting a record crowd during their last bout, DC’s own derby divas return to the Armory on Saturday, January 24 when Scare Force One takes on the Cherry Blossom Bombshells in the third bout of the 2008-09 season. Doors open at 4 pm and the action begins at 5 pm.

The action-packed evening kicks off with a ‘special coed exhibition’ bout featuring skaters from the DC Demoncats and the Harm City Homicide, Baltimore’s first and only male flat track roller derby team. Guest skaters from neighboring leagues – the Charm City Roller Girls, the River City Rollergirls and the Mason Dixon Roller Vixens – also join in the fun.

Halftime includes live performances by the Batala Percussion Band, an international all-woman band that plays Afro-Brazilian/Samba-Reggae rhythms and the Jim Moyer Circus Club, a highly-regarded local circus troupe featuring children ages 7-17.

Tickets are $12 for ages 12 and up, $6 for children 6-11 and free for kids 5 and under. Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com or at the door on bout day.
The DC Armory is easily accessible by the Metro on the Blue and Orange lines (Stadium-Armory station) and numerous bus lines. Secured parking is also available.
