Why - Nearly one in three children in the United States is overweight or at risk of becoming overweight. Extra pounds can add up to life-long problems, including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and, in adults, heart disease and certain cancers.
We Can! (Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition) is a science-based, national movement of families and communities coming together to promote healthy weight in children ages 8 through 13 through improved food choices, increased physical activity, and reduced screen time. The PEP rally will get kids moving, while spreading important messages about how families can work together to maintain a healthy weight.
