*Multifunctional DC Armory now hosting Indoor Football

(Washington, DC) – The DC Armor, Washington, D.C.’s first indoor football team, hosts the Reading Express in its inaugural home opener at the DC Armory this Saturday at 7 p.m. After defeating the Erie Riverrats last weekend for the franchise’s first-ever victory, the Armor are 1-1 heading into the first of three home games slated for April. The Armory box office opens at 4:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

While football is the name of the game on the field, DC Armor home games feature a family-friendly experience off the field. Some items include:

  • Tailgate party and Kids Fun Zone, featuring interactive games like football toss and basketball shootout and bouncy inflatables, held in front of the DC Armory from 4 – 7 p.m. (weather permitting)
  • During each game, fans have the opportunity to catch and keep any number of footballs that are thrown, kicked or tossed into the stands – which happens quite frequently as there are no nets behind the goal posts
  • D.C. Go-Go Legend Chuck Brown hosts the first DC Armor halftime
  • After each game, fans are welcome to get autographs and pictures with Armor players, coaches and dance team on the field

With tickets starting at just $20 apiece, DC Armor football is one of the most affordable games in town. Tickets are available at the door on game day or at www.ticketmaster.com.

The DC Armory is a landmark showplace that can accommodate up to 10,000 people and all types of events. A multifunctional mixed-use space, the Armory regularly hosts or has hosted expos and conventions, the circus, concerts, car shows, boxing, mixed martial arts events, step shows and inaugural balls including the 2009 Official Southern Inaugural Ball and President Barack Obama’s Staff Ball featuring legendary performer Jay-Z.

The Armor will play its seven regular season home games at the DC Armory. The 50-yard artificial-playing field will be laid on the Armory’s drill floor under the 88-foot high expansive dome.

The DC Armory is also home to the DC Rollergirls, a flat-track roller derby league that has posted record attendance this season, and the District of Columbia National Guard.
